Sitka's Online Community

We're visiting Sitka from Fairbanks, and wondering what the camping is like around there. Do people camp random places near town, like off of hiking trails, or does everyone camp in designated campgrounds? (We don't have a car, so hiding in the woods is easy if that's what people do).
