Outdoor Sports

Post by wncboater »

I'm moving to Sitka in 5 days and wanted to find out what kind of outdoor activities there are to do there besides the obvious. Does anyone in Sitka white water kayak? Is there any skiing or rock climbing near? Please fill me in if you don't mind. Thank you.

I have been living here for 3 weeks now or so and have found a few bolted routes nothing too crazy most of what I have done on them so far has been in the hard 7 to low 8 range theres a few that are potentially harder though I have not gotten on them yet.

I am actively searching for some trad routes, though, I have yet to find any. there is plenty of alpine lines to be plucked on the peaks so bring some crampons and an ax if your into that we can share a rope for some ridges and stuff.

We also have our skis and boards here... depending on how the snow is on the peaks could be a multi level excursion of alpinism with a ski/board down.

when are you going to be in the area? we could grab a java sometime and chat!
