I moved to Sitka, about 6 months ago. I am starting the rest of my life over, and I really like the feel of Sitka. There are, however some things that are making me hesitant to move here for good: the rents here are very high, the price of the food, and some of the medical issues here.I am originally from Pennsylvania.I have gotten use to the rain. There is very little to do here also as far as movies, concerts, etc. I am a non drinker, or smoker so I don't hang out in the clubs/bars. I am also Single and African American and Christian. People are very friendly here and it's so peaceful which I truly enjoy. So I am trying to weigh the pro's and the con's.Is anyone else out there like me, or feeling what I am saying.

Welcome to Sitka! Yes, compared to the lower 48, there is not as much nightlife or city entertainment. The summertime is what makes most people want to stay. Sitka has a lot to offer if you like exploring the outdoors. Getting out on the water and into the woods is what Sitka is all about to many people. :D
